Ep.99 The History of Jerusalem
Monday Mar 03, 2025
Monday Mar 03, 2025
We unravel the murky history of Jerusalem’s conquest, where nothing is as simple as it seems. The Bible tells us the tribe of Judah "took" the city, but did they? From Abraham’s encounter with Melchizedek to Joshua’s victories, Jerusalem remains a prize that no one seems to truly hold. The Jebusites lingered, the city was burned but never fully conquered, and through it all, the Israelites’ inability to erase the city's inhabitants foreshadows their spiritual decline. It’s a tale of incomplete victories, forgotten kings, and a city that wouldn’t die.

Ep.100 Israel's Compromise
Monday Mar 17, 2025
Monday Mar 17, 2025
In this episode, we kick off the Israelites’ slow descent into spiritual chaos. At first, Judah is on a winning streak, taking down the Canaanites. But, surprise! They hit a snag with those pesky "chariots of iron"—a little roadblock that keeps them from finishing the job. God’s got a plan, but the Israelites, being the rebellious lot they are, decide it’s fine to make peace treaties with the very people God told them to drive out. And so begins their spiral into idolatry, with Canaanite gods and practices slipping in like unwanted houseguests. By the end of it all, the Israelites don’t just worship Yahweh—they’ve got a side hustle with the Canaanite gods. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t end well. The dark cycle of oppression and rescue is just getting started.

Ep.101 Israel's First Judge
Monday Apr 07, 2025
Monday Apr 07, 2025
In this episode, Othniel, the "Lion of God," rises from the ashes of Israel's disobedience to deliver them from the oppressive grip of Cushan-Rishathaim, king of the Mitanni. With a family lineage tied to legendary warrior Caleb, Othniel's story is brief yet powerful—he leads Israel to a decisive victory, securing peace for forty years (or, in biblical terms, long enough to make sure the Israelites forgot why they were ever grateful). As Israel slumbers back into their sins, though, the peace quickly unravels, setting the stage for yet another chaotic cycle. A short reign, but one with enough historical twists to make a king blush. Who said the Bible doesn’t have plot twists?

Ep.102 Ehud the Deliverer of Israel
In this episode, we explore the historical and biblical context surrounding Israel’s second judge, Ehud, during a time when the Israelites once again turned away from God after the death of Othniel. As a result, God allowed King Eglon of Moab—along with allies from the Ammonites and Amalekites—to oppress Israel for 18 years. We dive into the origins and cultural backgrounds of these three groups, particularly the Moabites, descendants of Lot, and their ongoing territorial conflicts with Israel. The story climaxes with Ehud, a left-handed (or ambidextrous) warrior from the tribe of Benjamin, who assassinates Eglon in a daring and strategic move, leading to Israel's liberation. This episode also examines archaeological evidence surrounding the City of Palms (Jericho), the political symbolism of the tribute to Eglon, and the significance of Ehud's actions, which brought 80 years of peace to Israel.
